April Showers Bring May Flowers (Umbrella Craft)

We have had so much rain lately, this seemed like an appropriate craft.

I am not very good at taking pictures of crafts that hang. The umbrella looks a lot cuter in person.



We used: Paper plate, scissors, construction paper, glue, glitter, hole punch, yarn (or fishing line),paint or markers for decorating the paper plate.

Decorate both sides of the plate. Allow to dry. Cut plates in 2 equal halves.

Cut a slit in one of the plate halves from the center of the bottom to the middle of the plate.

Cut a slit in the other plate half, from the center of the top to the middle of the plate.

Slide the 2 plates together, forming an "X".

Cut out a handle and glue it on.

Cut out rain drops and punch holes on the top. Add glitter

Punch a hole in the top of the umbrella, and use the yarn as a hanger.

Punch a hole near each of the four corners of the umbrella.

With the yarn add the rain drops.

Dandelion Painting an Easter Wreath

Today Cheyanne and I made this beautiful Easter Wreath by painting with dandelions. It was so much fun and it created a beautiful Easter decoration.

First, you need to pick some dandelions.

To create the wreath we used: Dandelions, paint, poster board (or paper), paper plate, scissor and glue.

Use the dandelions as a stamp.

It created a beautiful picture.

If you mix the colors it is o.k., it is still pretty.

Allow the paint to dry. Cut out the egg shapes. Cut out the center of the paper plate. Glue on egg shapes.

Paper Plate Snail

Cheyanne had her friend, Sarah, spend the night on Friday. We had fun making these paper plate snails.

We used: A paper plate, large craft sticks, glue, scissors, wiggly eyes, green and red marker and bingo daubers, my friend Beth gave me (thanks Beth, we love them.)

But you can decorate the paper plates with paint or markers.

The girls stamped away on th plates.

Colored the large craft stick with a marker (paint will work too). Glue on eye and draw on a mouth.

Cut a spiral in the plate and glue on the craft stick.

We Made It, Showcase Saturday !!!

It is the weekend, and I am glad. It has been a busy week. I can not wait to see all the projects you guys have done.

Sponge Painting the Easter Bunny

Today the girls sponge painted some bunnies. I think they turned out so cute, the sponge painting makes the bunny look fluffy.
They look great hanging up in my kitchen.

We used: dark colored construction paper, paint, sponge, glue, wiggly eyes, glue, pom-poms, white crayon and a cut out picture of a bunny coloring page.

Trace the cut out of the bunny with a white crayon.

Sponge paint the outline first, and then fill in. Allow time to dry.

Then decorate the bunny.

Decorating with Plastic Easter Eggs

I love decorating my house for every holiday. But I can not afford expensive decorations, so I have to come up with inexpensive alternatives. So right now my house looks like a plastic egg factory exploded in my house.

First, I made a wall of eggs. My kids love walking through these.

All you need is plastic Easter eggs, fishing line, scissors and push pins.


Close the eggs on the line and hang in the top of your molding with the push pins.

I also hung Easter eggs from my chandelier.

I filled my trifle bowl with eggs.

And my cake holder.

Eggs are everywhere.

Oatmeal Container Easter Bunny

We made this cute Easter bunny from and oatmeal container. It would look good as a table centerpiece or sitting on the mantle.

We used: An Oatmeal Container, glue, construction paper, 2 pom-poms, wiggly eyes, 3 chenille stems, white paint, brush, Easter grass and eggs.

Cheyanne painted the top and bottom of the container. And I wrapped the container with construction paper.

Cheyanne decorated the face and glued on a tail.

I cut a hole in the bunnies back.

Cheyanne added Easter grass and Easter eggs.

Easter Bunny with Footprint Ears

Colton and Cheyanne made these adorable Easter Bunnies with their footprints and paper plates.

We used: Large construction paper (dark colors), paper plate, large wiggly eyes, pom-pom, chenille stems, white paint, paint brush, glue, marker and white crayon.

Decorate the bunny face and glue the paper plate to the bottom of the construction paper.

Paint the feet and make prints where the ears would be. After the paint dries outline the foot prints with the white crayon.
