Some Classroom Activities

Here are some fun and easy activities that I have in my classroom.



The kids really love hammering golf tees into Styrofoam.



They also like making simple flower arrangements.

And this is the newest addition to my classroom and my kids, both toddlers and 2's, love this desk.

I found the idea at Her Cup Overfloweth.

I drew the computer screen and taped it to the wall. There is also a pad of paper with crayon, an old phone, calculator and a keyboard.

Squishy Bags

Last night the girls and I made these great squishy bags. I was making it for my preschool class to show how red and yellow makes orange but all my kids at home loved it too.

The consistency of the squishy goo is like a thick custard. It feels really cool.

For the "Goo" we used:

1 Cup of Cornstarch

1/3 Cup Sugar

4 Cups Water

We mixed all the ingredients in a large pot and stirred the mixture on medium low heat for about 5 minutes. You need to stir it until it gets thick.

Allow to cool.

Add food coloring

Stir food coloring into the goo.

For my preschool class we added yellow and red and squeezed it until it turned orange.

Color Matching Game for Young Preschoolers

Here is a super simple and easy game to make, to help young preschoolers with their colors.

I used: 3x5 index cards and markers.

Make two of the cards the same with the colors and words on them. Shuffle the cards and have your child match them.

Another Apple Tree Craft

This is such an easy apple tree project. Cheyanne love doing it because it involved painting and finger printing.

We used: A paper plate, water colors and paint brush, red paint and scissors.

Cut the side out of the paper plate to look like a tree.

Paint the trunk brown and the top of the tree green.

Next dip your finger into the red paint and dot the top of the plate to make the apples.

We Made It ! Friday Showcase !!!!!

I see so many great projects on We Made It! Friday Showcase! every week. I hope if you have done a fun project with your kids you will share it with us.

Apple's Numbers Game

This is an easy game to make with the Apple theme.

This game is to help teach kids to put numbers in their correct order.


We used construction paper, glue, markers and scissors.

Cut out apple shapes, and write the numbers on them. If you want the apples to last longer, laminate them with contact paper.

Now have your preschooler put them in order.

5 Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree

Continuing with our craft stick puppets, we made moneys for the song,"5 Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree."
You could also use these for ,"5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed."



We used: Large craft sticks, markers, glue, brown paper, small wiggly eyes and scissors.

Cheyanne colored the sticks brown.

I cut out the ears and mouth.

Cheyanne glued on the ears, mouth and eyes.

The alligator I made a while ago here.

5 Little Speckled Frogs

Cheyanne had the greatest idea. She pulled out some craft sticks and started singing

5 Little Speckled Frogs with them. So we decorated the sticks to look like frogs. They turned out so cute.

We used 5 large craft sticks, markers,glue and googly eyes.

More Apple Crafts

We are continuing with our apple crafts. The 2 we did today that have cute poems to go along with them.

The first craft we did, we used:
Paper, red paint, brown paint, green paint and a paint brush.


I painted Cheyanne's palm and stamped it on the paper twice.

Then we made a leaf and a stem with Chey's finger prints.

The poem that goes along with it is:

Away up high

In the apple tree,

Two red Apples

Smiled at me.

I shook the tree

As hard as I could

And down came the Apples

MMMMMM were they good !!!!!

Finger Print Apples

The next project we used: paper, ink pad and markers.

The girls stamped their fingers to make the apples.

They then added stems and leaves with the markers.

A cute poem to go along with this is:

These are special apples

Hanging on this tree.

I made them with my fingers prints

They are a part of me.

During this week we are also going to use a juicer to juice Red, Yellow and Green apples to see how they taste different.

Apples Lesson Plan

For the next 2 weeks at school our theme will be Apples are Round. And apples are Red, Green and Yellow.

We will be making:

Torn Paper Apple Plates

A is for Apple Tree

Paper Bag Apples:

We used: A small paper bag stuffed with newspaper and a twisty tie to close it, green paper leaf, red paint, brush and glue.

Cheyanne painted the apple bag.

Then glued on the leaf.
